We believe that being a Christian is the most exciting and rewarding way of living. Jesus says "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10v10). Being a Christian is like a journey with a purpose - it has a beginning, a direction and an end.
Beginning as a Christian
The Marlow Area Team Ministry welcomes all people and recognises that we are all at different stages in our journey of faith. We believe that God desires an intimate and personal relationship with us, but we cannot obtain it through our own efforts. God offers us the Good News of his kingdom as a gift through Jesus, his Son. By laying down his life on the cross, Jesus took our place and paid the ultimate price for our sin and wrongdoings – these are the things that separate us from God. By rising again from death, Jesus sets us free from the things that lead to eternal death, and sets us free to live a new life - his risen life.
A direction in life
Within our churches we enjoy worshipping and spending time with God. It's like spending time with friends or family - we show our love for God by spending time with him and his family the church. We learn what kind of world God is making and remaking. We learn more about how to live life to the full under his guidance.
We also want to learn more about Him and the Christian faith – in doing so we join Christians from across the centuries who have grappled with the teachings of the Bible as a way of learning more about Jesus and what it is to be a Christian. If you would like to join us then we would love to hear from you. In the meantime, you may find the following websites useful:
Starting with the end in mind
Have you ever stopped to think about what happens when we die? Christians believe that there is more to life than our short span on planet earth. There is eternal life - life in all it's fulness that reaches beyond our line of sight or our imagination. It's what the Bible calls heaven. And then the Bible tells of a new heaven and a new earth, where there is no more pain or dying, no more suffering and injustice. Jesus has rescued us from despair and set us free to enjoy a taste of heaven on earth. There is hope, and it starts and ends with Jesus.
Finding out more - our Alpha Course
We are holding an Alpha course this autumn, which is open to everyone interested in discovering what Christianity is about. The course is designed primarily for people who aren't churchgoers and the course is open to everyone who would like to attend. Here is some more general information about Alpha courses. However, each course has its own style so please come along and join us so that we can learn more together.
The Alpha Party is on 17th September at 7.30pm at All Saints Church Hall, Marlow. It's an introduction to how Alpha works and what you will be able to explore with us about the Christian faith and the claims that Jesus made about himself.
The Alpha course then continues from Tuesday 27th September - 7.30pm at the same venue, All Saints Church Hall. It runs each Tuesday for 11 weeks, and an Away Day on Saturday 29th October, and is hosted by our Encounter community
